Kal-El the kitten is doing her best, but needs food, a vet & a permanent person. Can you help? Contact @jrblackwell
I was driving home today when I saw a kitten run out in front of a car. I immediately pulled over and ran after it. It darted under a trash can, and it took four people and a t-shirt I found in the back of my car to rescue it.It didn’t want to be picked up, but as soon as it was wrapped in the blue shirt, it calmed down and relaxed, and was quiet on my lap for the ride to my friend Kyle’s house.
Kyle (who took this photo) was kind enough to give me some cat supplies and some money for kitten formula.
I cannot keep a kitten.I love animals but my husband is throat-close-up allergic to cats. If you live in the Philadelphia area, and you want an adorable tiny kitten, please get in touch. I don’t want my husband’s throat to close up, and I don’t want to give little Kal-El to a kill-shelter, so if you know someone or you are someone who can take this kitten, please let me know.
If you don’t know anyone, signal boost is appreciated!Posted on June 17, 2013 via Kyle Cassidy's Image Stream with 32 notes

“‘We Have Always Fought’: Challenging the ‘Women, Cattle and Slaves’ Narrative” by Kameron Hurley â A Dribble of Ink
“…When I sat down with one of my senior professors in Durban, South Africa to talk about my Master’s thesis, he asked me why I wanted to write about women resistance fighters.
“Because women made up twenty percent of the ANC’s militant wing!” I gushed. “Twenty percent! When I found that out I couldn’t believe it. And you know – women have never been part of fighting forces –”
He interrupted me. “Women have always fought,” he said.
“What?” I said.
“Women have always fought,” he said. “Shaka Zulu had an all-female force of fighters. Women have been part of every resistance movement. Women dressed as men and went to war, went to sea, and participated actively in combat for as long as there have been people.”
I had no idea what to say to this. I had been nurtured in the U.S. school system on a steady diet of the Great Men theory of history. History was full of Great Men. I had to take separate Women’s History courses just to learn about what women were doing while all the men were killing each other. It turned out many of them were governing countries and figuring out rather effective methods of birth control that had sweeping ramifications on the makeup of particular states, especially Greece and Rome…”

This is showing how you grip a sword
For a long time I had a problem where I’d draw people holding swords/guns/bows/whatever with a closed fist, as if the weapon was about the width of a pencil. It’s still something I have to remember not to do, so this is pretty cool.
Also, this is a solid hand job drawing tutorial, if you need that.
